Septic/ Sewerline inspection
Service Description
Septic Inspection A septic inspection evaluates the condition and functionality of a private septic system, typically used in homes that are not connected to a municipal sewer system. Key components include the septic tank and drain field. What it involves: Locating the tank and uncovering access lids. Checking the sludge and scum levels inside the tank. Inspecting baffles, tees, and filters for damage or blockages. Evaluating the tank's integrity (e.g., cracks or leaks). Examining the drain field for signs of failure like standing water, odors, or lush grass. Pumping the tank (optional but often done for thorough inspection). When it’s done: During real estate transactions. Every 3–5 years as part of regular maintenance. When there are signs of system failure (e.g., backups, odors). Sewer Line Inspection A sewer line inspection evaluates the condition of the main sewer line that connects a home to the municipal sewer system. This is especially important for older homes or those with large trees nearby. What it involves: Inserting a specialized camera through a cleanout or drain to travel the length of the sewer pipe. Checking for blockages, cracks, bellies (sags), tree root intrusion, and general wear. Recording and reviewing the footage to determine repair needs. When it’s done: During home purchase inspections. When experiencing slow drains, gurgling toilets, or sewage backups. Proactively in older homes (especially those with clay or cast iron pipes).
